NEWWARE Wireless Lav 2 Mic + Receiver (for iPhone)

If you record a lot of audio in the field and you are like me – always wondering how you can make your life easier, have fewer cables to worry about, and a wireless mic that just works – you came to the right place. There are MANY more advanced, more complex, and (BY FAR) more expensive alternatives out there… and I certainly wouldn’t place this set of wireless mics and a receiver on par with competition by some well-known brands out there. But there is one simple fact: THIS WORKS! Actually, it works really well. The sound quality is really not bad for a relatively inexpensive microphone set. I wouldn’t be afraid to say it will positively surprise you. Other things that (IMHO) make it worth your attention:

1. EASE OF USE. You take these out of the box, stick the receiver into your iPhone, press and hold for about 1.5 sec a button on a side of the mic and clip it onto your speaker. That’s it! You are ready to roll! Quick setup? You bet. As quick as it gets, you just can’t beat this. The instantaneousness (not sure this is a word) of this set makes it extremely useful for someone like me, who is often pressured to just START RECORDING NOW!

2. SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT. The microphone weighs close to nothing. You clip it on your subject and they forget it’s there. It doesn’t bother them in any way and there is no cable to worry about, hide, get tangled into, etc.

3. LOW, LOW PRICE! At the time of writing this review, this set of two mics and a receiver is available on Amazon at $35.99. This is dirt cheap if you ask me. The functionality makes it EXCELLENT VALUE! It delivers VERY DECENT quality wireless audio and as you can see in THIS VIDEO REVIEW on my YouTube channel it holds its ground really well against wired lavs that will cost you lots and lots more.

4. YOU ALREADY HAVE THE RECORDER! The very fact this was designed to work with iPhone means you do NOT need to purchase any additional equipment to record pretty good quality audio. Whether you want to record iPhone video using this mic or download a sound recorder app (like VRPro 7 that I HIGHLY recommend) the good thing is your investment ends at the above-mentioned $35.99. Any wired lav mic has to be connected to a recorder (or to a camera) so this is a very significant difference if you are on a budget.

5. RECHARGEABLE BATTERY. You will also not need to invest anything into powering this unit with batteries. All you need is a USB-C cable. Fully charged the mics should last about 16 hours (manufacturer’s claim – we haven’t tested the total recording time in the field yet). The receiver gets the power it needs from your iPhone or iPad and it doesn’t need any recharging.

My final conclusion is: this is a truly GREAT alternative for recording audio in a field, studio, interview, a podcast. The sound quality may not be broadcast but it is very satisfying. Definitely good enough for 95% of prosumer needs. Whether you are a YouTuber, a streamer, a podcaster, a field interviewer or any other kind of audio recordist you will find this good enough in many, many recording environments you’ll find yourself covering. This is money well spent!
